Classes started this week, and I successfully finished up my
first week.
The classes here follow a much different structure than what
I’m used to at UNH.
For one, you have one class that you focus on for about a
week and a half and have 3-6 hours of lectures for it each day. And an hour and
a half of French class on top of that.
It definitely makes for a long day.
But the cool thing is that the “module” is completely done
after that week and a half and you’re done with that class for semester.
Also, students don’t have a set schedule, and it changes
every week. There’s an application students have to log into at the beginning
of each week to check their “time table” to see where and when their classes
will be that week.
It’s an interesting approach, but it’s a good change of pace
I suppose.
The only downside is that the attendance policy is
incredibly strict, and I’m not allowed to miss one class, or I won’t be able to
take the final…aka failing the class. It also makes it difficult when trying to
plan trips.
Speaking of which, I’m going to try for my “Spring Break”
during February 23 to March 3, I’m working on traveling to the UK, and visit my
homeland.
I’m in the midst of looking up plane and train tickets, but
right now this is my goal:
Saturday, Feb 23rd to Monday, Feb 25th
I want to fly from Paris to Edinburg, Scotland and stay there and travel those
few days. Then fly from Scotland to Dublin, Ireland and explore there for a few
days. Then, ideally, if it worked out with my friends in London, I’d wrap up my
tour of the UK there. Then I’d fly from London to Paris, then get a train from
Paris back to Dijon.
It’s a lot to organize, but I’m hoping I can figure it out
in the next two days.
I know I would kick myself if I never ended up getting to
Scotland/Ireland, so that’s why I want to hit these stops in one week.
Not to mention I’m sure my ancestors would be ashamed of me
if I didn’t finagle these trips back to the homeland…
And the last thing I wanna do is upset them...
Keep your fingers crossed I organize these excursions pretty
easily!
